The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Norway, with a focus on expanding trade, investment, renewable energy, and blue economy opportunities.

Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed this following a diplomatic meeting held at the Ministry with Norway’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, and a delegation from the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

According to Dr. Uzoka-Anite, the discussions were aimed at translating the longstanding diplomatic relationship between both countries into tangible economic benefits capable of driving growth and national development.

She noted that the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in key sectors, including the green transition, blue economy, and trade and investment.

The Minister explained that Nigeria seeks to leverage Norway’s expertise in renewable energy and sustainable technologies to support the country’s transition towards a greener economy.

She added that both countries also explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation in maritime development, sustainable fisheries, and port efficiency as part of efforts to unlock the vast potential of Nigeria’s blue economy.

On trade and investment, Dr. Uzoka-Anite said discussions centred on creating more efficient pathways for business-to-business partnerships and strategic investments that would stimulate economic activities and attract capital into critical sectors.

The Minister emphasized that the Federal Government is focused on achieving measurable outcomes from international partnerships, noting that engagements are increasingly geared toward concrete deliverables rather than dialogue alone.

She thanked Minister Kravik and his delegation for what she described as a productive and forward-looking engagement, expressing optimism that the discussions would lead to stronger economic cooperation and mutually beneficial investments between Nigeria and Norway.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to deepen international partnerships, diversify the economy, and accelerate sustainable development through strategic global collaborations.
