Abducted Oyo School Principal Releases New Video, Appeals Against “Misleading” Reports

The Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Rachael Alamu, has appeared in a fresh video message from captivity, urging Nigerians to disregard reports claiming that her abductors demanded the introduction of Sharia law as part of negotiations for the release of kidnapped pupils and teachers.

In the emotional video, Alamu said the narrative circulating in some media outlets was false and misleading, adding that it was worsening the situation of the victims still being held.

She explained that the abductors, according to her, were not demanding 1 billion , weapons or any religious condition, but were instead insisting on the release of some of their detained associates.

Alamu called on Nigerians not to politicise the situation, warning that misinformation could complicate efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.

She also appealed for the video to be widely shared, saying public attention and pressure were critical to ensuring the safe return of those in captivity.

The victims include more than 40 pupils and teachers abducted during coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, in Oriire LGA on Friday, May 15, 2026.

According to her, the abductees have now spent about 24 days in captivity, during which they have remained under difficult conditions.

While expressing concern, she maintained that there had been no attempts to impose religious practices on the victims, contrary to earlier reports.

She further urged security agencies and government authorities to intensify efforts toward negotiations she believes could lead to their release.

At the time of filing this report, there has been no official update from security authorities on the latest video or the ongoing rescue efforts.
