Abuja Woman Allegedly Sets Rented Apartment Ablaze Following Dispute Over Boyfriend’s Infidelity
A young woman has allegedly set a rented apartment on fire following a heated dispute with her boyfriend over allegations of infidelity at Kabusa Gardens Estate, Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend, according to a resident of the estate who recounted the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
According to the account, trouble began after the man reportedly returned home at about midnight, prompting his girlfriend to accuse him of cheating with another woman.
The situation allegedly escalated when the woman threatened the man with a knife. He reportedly managed to escape from the apartment and locked the door behind him.
The woman allegedly proceeded to dismantle the apartment’s air-conditioning unit before gathering some of the man’s personal belongings and setting them on fire.
She reportedly went further by pouring fuel around the apartment and setting the property ablaze.
Estate security personnel and residents were said to have responded quickly, mobilising to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring apartments and other parts of the estate.
The resident further disclosed that the couple had reportedly lived in the estate for less than five months and that security personnel had previously intervened during an alleged violent confrontation involving the pair about a month ago.
The incident has reportedly raised concerns among residents over domestic disputes and the need for timely intervention when conflicts between couples escalate into threats or violence.
Authorities have not been quoted as confirming the incident or announcing any arrest in connection with the alleged arson.
