A 2027 governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa, has urged Nigerians to remain focused on promoting accountability, civic awareness, and good governance rather than engaging in unproductive political arguments.

In a statement, Durkwa said the real objective of political engagement should not be to change the minds of individuals who are firmly opposed to differing views, but to educate and inspire citizens who are willing to support positive change in leadership and governance.

He stressed that there remains a significant number of Nigerians who desire credible leadership and are prepared to stand for fairness, transparency, and national development.

According to him, those who are unwilling to embrace new ideas may not be easily persuaded, but many others remain open to learning, reflection, and national transformation.

Durkwa also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying the country is undergoing a gradual but irreversible shift toward progress.

He noted that despite current challenges, a “new Nigeria” is emerging through the efforts of citizens demanding accountability and reform.

“Our country will rise above its shadows and challenges,” he said, reaffirming his belief in Nigeria’s long-term potential for growth and stability.

The statement comes as political activities gradually build momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across different states increasing engagement with the public.
