AFCON Final: Sports Minister Seeks Financial Support for Super Eagles
By Matthew Eloyi
As the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare to face off against hosts Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Ebimpe this Sunday, Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has issued a passionate plea for financial support from Nigerians.
In a press statement released on February 8, Senator Enoh emphasized the unifying power of sports, calling on both the private sector and individuals to provide financial support to the national team.
“The current administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has demonstrated full support to the national team unprecedented in the contemporary history of sports administration in our country,” Senator Enoh stated.
He acknowledged the financial constraints faced by the government amidst competing national priorities, stressing the need for private individuals and corporate entities to step up and assist the Super Eagles.
“It has become self-evident and abundantly clear that government alone cannot fund sports development in our country,” Senator Enoh remarked.
He urged public-spirited individuals and corporate Nigeria to make financial pledges in support of the team, especially in the event of a victory in the final match.
“My expectation is that public-spirited individuals and corporate Nigeria should make a promise of financial support to the Super Eagles team in the likelihood of their winning the final match on Sunday,” Senator Enoh stated.
To facilitate pledges and commitments, Senator Enoh directed interested parties to reach out directly to the Super Eagles Team Manager, Enebi Achor, at +2348037860516.
With the Super Eagles poised to potentially secure their fourth AFCON title, Senator Enoh emphasized the importance of motivating and inspiring the players as they strive to bring home the coveted trophy.
As the nation rallies behind its team, Senator Enoh’s call for support underscores the significance of unity and collective effort in achieving sporting success on the international stage.
