Again, Boko Haram kidnaps Civil Defence personnel
The Boko Haram terrorist faction known as the Islamic State in West Africa Province ( ISWAP) have kidnapped Personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The personnel who is also a volunteer with the ICRC is known as Auwalu Ali and he was kidnapped on the 8th October 2021.
Mr Ali was seen in a video footage recorded on the 16th November 2021 acknowledging that he was taken hostage by Soldiers of Khilafa on the 8th October 2021.
He also said that he is a volunteer at the Mubi branch of the ICRC ( Red Cross).
Mr Ali didn’t plead with the insurgents or his family for his release; he only identified himself and confirmed his status.
He was kidnapped near a town known as Guma. There is a strong possibility that the clip might be proof of life to his family or someone talking with the abductors.
Recently, ISWAP has been kidnapping both civilians and government security agents along different highways in the northeast region. Mohammed Buba, a security consultant who spoke to this medium said that the government security forces have to be on the offensive against these ISWAP terrorists.
” It is high time government security agents take the initiative and be on the lookout for these terrorists; if possible lure them and engage them. I also believe that it’s an acknowledgement of defeat for soldiers to officially abandon travelling on the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway because of the fear of kidnap. We are losing the initiative because so many villages near the highways are dominated by locals sympathetic to the terrorists. In fact, some of the villages are occupied by them,” he said.
