Participants of Air War Course 12/2026 at the Air Force War College Nigeria have received a strategic lecture on “Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency: The Indian Experience,” delivered by the Defence Attaché of India, Colonel Manoj Singh.

The lecture formed part of the College’s academic programme aimed at exposing senior military officers to international best practices and diverse operational perspectives in addressing terrorism and insurgency.

Colonel Singh, in his presentation, outlined India’s experience in tackling asymmetric threats across different regions, emphasizing intelligence-led operations, inter-agency collaboration, strategic communication, capacity building, and the integration of technology in modern counterterrorism efforts.

He noted that effective counterinsurgency operations require a coordinated national approach that combines security operations with strong institutional support and adaptive strategies.

The session featured active participation from course members, who engaged the guest lecturer in discussions on how global counterinsurgency practices could be adapted to Nigeria’s and Africa’s evolving security environment.

The Commandant of the Air Force War College Nigeria, Gambo Adamu Mbaka, commended the Indian Defence Attaché for sharing valuable insights, describing the lecture as timely and relevant to current global security challenges.

He noted that such strategic engagements with international partners are essential for strengthening professional military education and enhancing the intellectual capacity of senior officers.

According to him, exposure to comparative security experiences helps build strategic-level leaders capable of addressing complex threats in joint and multi-agency operational environments.

The lecture underscored the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s continued commitment to developing well-trained leaders equipped with the knowledge and expertise required for modern security operations.
