Ajuri Ngelale Proceeds on Indefinite Leave Over Family Health Concerns

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has announced his decision to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence due to pressing family medical issues.

In a memo submitted on Friday, Ngelale informed the Chief of Staff to the President of his intention to temporarily step back from his official duties to focus on the health matters affecting his immediate family.

Ngelale, who also serves as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, stated that the decision was made after thorough consultations with his family.

“This agonizing decision… was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale said in a statement on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.

While acknowledging the importance of national responsibilities, he emphasized that his family’s current health challenges necessitated this pause in his public service role.

Ngelale expressed hope for a return to full-time service when circumstances improve and requested privacy for his family during this period.

The leave marks a temporary halt in his duties, including acting as the official spokesperson for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
