APC Aspirant Seeks Probe Into Bauchi South Senatorial Exercise

By Ahmed Kaigama

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State and aspirant for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kundak, has raised concerns over the credibility of the recently concluded party primaries, alleging that the exercise failed to follow due process.

Addressing journalists during a press conference on Tuesday in Bauchi, Kundak described the exercise as a “so-called primary,” insisting that there was no clear evidence to show that elections were actually conducted across the senatorial district.

The APC stalwart argued that no polling units, voting centres, or delegate activities could be identified to validate claims that a legitimate primary election took place before the announcement of a candidate.

According to him, the process was allegedly characterised by irregularities, infiltration, and undue influence, while also raising concerns about what he described as inadequate elections procedures for aspirants.

Kundak explained that his decision to publicly speak on the matter was aimed at drawing the attention of the APC leadership to what he considered serious lapses in the conduct of the exercise.

He called on the national leadership of the party to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the primaries and provide clarity on what transpired during the process.

The aspirant, however, stressed that his criticism should not be interpreted as rebellion against the party, maintaining that he remains committed and loyal to the APC.

“I will remain in APC. These are internal issues that can be resolved within the party framework,” he stated.

Kundak further expressed optimism that the ruling party would overcome its internal challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections if justice and fairness prevail.

He appealed to the APC national leadership, especially the National Chairman, to ensure transparency and fairness in addressing the controversy surrounding the Bauchi South senatorial primaries.
