‘APC May Seek to Grab Osun by Any Means Necessary’ – Momodu Warns Adeleke

Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has warned Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to prepare for what he described as an attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
Momodu, in a strongly worded Facebook post addressed to Adeleke, alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), under the influence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, could not be expected to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the state.
He further alleged that the APC was determined to use the Osun election as a “dress rehearsal” for the 2027 presidential election.
Addressing Adeleke as his “Twin Brother,” Momodu said he was compelled to issue the warning “for posterity sake,” urging the governor to remain vigilant ahead of the poll.
“Let no one deceive you that INEC, under the complete control of PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU will organize free, fair and credible ELECTION in OSUN State next week, AUGUST 15, 2026,” he wrote.
According to him, the APC government was allegedly determined to “use your election as the dress rehearsal for their nefarious preparation for the Presidential election in January 2027.”
Momodu accused the ruling party of being prepared to deploy every available means to secure victory, alleging that “the devil has taken possession of their hardened souls and they’re ready to play GOD because of POWER.”
The publisher also claimed that some of his friends within the APC had warned him to expect “ANY eventuality” during the election.
“We have a lot of friends in APC and we’ve been warned to expect ANY eventuality,” he stated, alleging that the instruction to party supporters was to “GRAB OSUN by any means NECESSARY and deal with the resultant volcano thereafter.”
The comments come as Adeleke seeks another term in office amid a keenly contested political battle in Osun State.
Momodu, while expressing confidence in the governor’s performance, urged him not to be distracted by the political developments surrounding the election.
He asked Adeleke to remain steadfast in his faith and take confidence in what he described as his administration’s “uncommon work.”
“Pls, hold on tightly to GOD as you’ve always been. We are proud of the uncommon work you’ve done, and doing,” Momodu wrote.
He also took a swipe at Adeleke’s political opponents, arguing that they would have little to campaign on based on their previous records in government.
“Let them campaign with the work they did in the past… Little or nothing to show,” he added.
Momodu concluded his message with an expression of solidarity with the governor, declaring: “YOU ARE LOVED.”
The allegations contained in Momodu’s post could not, however, be independently verified. Neither the APC nor INEC had responded to the specific allegations contained in the post at the time of filing this report.
The August 15 election is expected to attract significant national attention, particularly because of its potential implications for the political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
