The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has received members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who reportedly defected to the ruling party, led by former ADC governorship aspirant, Hon. Jafaru Ibrahim Sani.
The reception took place at Filin Idin Katsinawa in Zaria, where the APC leader in Kaduna State said more than 200,000 ADC members had joined the party.
Describing the event as a significant moment of political realignment, the APC leader said the development presented an opportunity to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, broaden political engagement and advance its objectives in the state.
He welcomed Sani and the new members, noting that their decision to join the APC reflected their desire to participate in the political development of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
The party leader stressed that politics should focus on the aspirations of the people and the creation of opportunities to improve their lives, adding that political leaders had a responsibility to build bridges, welcome new perspectives and encourage meaningful participation.
He also called for unity of purpose, mutual respect and a shared commitment to development among the existing and new members of the party.
The APC leader reaffirmed that the party remained open to new members and committed to serving the people of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
The figure of more than 200,000 defectors was stated by the APC leader and has not been independently verified.
