Army Commander seeks synergy among security agencies
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE, has urged for functional synergy among security services, notably the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
He made the call when Commandant, Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS), Onne, Commodore Gideon Kachim paid him a courtesy call at Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The GOC stated that the AFN is a large organization with many branches that operate along diverse functional lines for the same objective.
According to him, the purpose of this connection is to preserve and defend the nation’s interests in preserving and contributing to national security, in accordance with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

While thanking the Commandant for his appointment, he expressed his belief that he would turn around NNBTS’s fortunes.
He went on to say that the institution, like the Nigerian Army Depot, is a site where civilians are converted into military soldiers.
As a result, the AFN must instill the concept of synergy in them from the start. “They need to know that both the NA and the NN are one entity, performing different functions,” he stated.
He informed the school that the Division is always ready to help in any manner it can.
Earllier, the Commandant, stated that the NNBTS and sister Services had always worked together, and as such, he felt it was appropriate to pay a courtesy call on the GOC since assuming office as Commandant.
In addition, he added that the school is entrusted with preparing people to become war machines as required by the Navy. He also emphasized the need for collaboration, saying that during training, the school welcomes sister Services to share their perspectives on various themes.
As a result, they would take advantage of such opportunities on occasion.
Commodore Kachim also used the opportunity to ask Division support and help if necessary.
He expressed hope that the school will also help the GOC achieve its objective and the COAS’s command philosophy.
