Army-NCDC Partnership Strengthened: GOC 6 Division Pledges Enhanced Collaboration
In a bid to bolster security efforts in the Niger Delta Region, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of the Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, has reaffirmed the commitment to enhanced collaboration with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
This assurance was made during a familiarization visit by the newly appointed Zonal Commander of NSCDC Zone L, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Ayila Taiwo Olowo, at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
In his address, Major General Abdussalam underscored the longstanding partnership between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC, highlighting their joint efforts in personnel training, joint operations, and other security initiatives.
He praised the existing synergy in the region and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to fulfill the overarching goal set by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, which is to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force capable of achieving its constitutional responsibilities within a collaborative framework.
General Abdussalam acknowledged the crucial role of intelligence sharing and joint operations with other agencies in maintaining security in the Niger Delta.
He pledged ongoing support and encouraged the newly appointed Zonal Commander to foster positive relationships with all security agencies in the region.
Zonal Commander ACG Olowo, who oversees NSCDC operations in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Rivers States, emphasized the significance of this collaboration.
He lauded the Nigerian Army for its prompt response to security cooperation requests and harmonious working relationship with the NSCDC.
He reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and addressing national security issues such as oil theft, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the region.
The visit featured key moments, including the signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of souvenirs, group photographs, and light refreshments, symbolizing a renewed commitment to joint efforts in securing the Niger Delta Region.
