AUB, NIGCOMSAT Strengthen Partnership to Advance Digital Broadcasting in Africa
The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) and the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at strengthening digital broadcasting, expanding connectivity and promoting digital inclusion across Africa.
The renewed commitment was highlighted during a working visit by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the African Union of Broadcasting, Grégoire Ndjaka, to the NIGCOMSAT headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Jane Egerton-Idehen, and members of the management team.
During the visit, the AUB delegation was taken on a tour of NIGCOMSAT’s satellite facilities, where they were briefed on the organisation’s satellite infrastructure, technical capabilities and digital solutions supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
The discussions also highlighted NIGCOMSAT’s role in the successful implementation of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme, aimed at expanding access to quality digital television services and improving broadcasting coverage in communities across the country.
Both organisations emphasised the importance of stronger partnerships, innovation and sustained investment in space technology to accelerate digital inclusion, enhance Africa’s broadcasting ecosystem and unlock new opportunities for economic growth.
Speaking during the engagement, the management of NIGCOMSAT reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to leveraging its satellite assets and technical expertise to provide reliable communication and broadcasting solutions that support national development and regional integration.
The visit concluded with both parties expressing their determination to strengthen cooperation in building a more connected and digitally inclusive Africa through strategic partnerships and technology-driven solutions.
