Barr Kaibo Receives Nelson Mandela Prize for Public Service, Calls for Effective Leadership in Nigeria

Barrister Musa Kaibo, Nigeria’s foremost public servant, has emphasized the need for thorough scrutiny of leaders to ensure they possess competence, diligence, honesty, and transparency. Kaibo made this call in an exclusive interview in Yola, stressing that leaders must prioritize trust in their dealings with their electorate.

According to Kaibo, good leadership is characterized by transparency, patriotism, and a willingness to serve, rather than imposing oneself by force. He cited the example of Adamawa State, where Governor Fintiri was elected due to his positive impact on the community.

Relatedly, Barr Kaibo has been nominated for the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award, due to his outstanding contributions to public service. His nomination is premised on his longstanding experience in the public service, where he has served in various capacities under many administrations, his community service to humanity, and his quest for peace-making in the society.

Kaibo emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from African legends like Mandela, who sacrificed his life for the independence of his people. He pledged to continue working for the betterment of public service and society as a whole.
