Bayelsa Police Inspector Arrested for Allegedly Brutalising His Children Over Witchcraft Claims
A police inspector, Sunday Idey, has been arrested by operatives of the Bayelsa State police special unit, Operation Doo Akpor, for allegedly assaulting his three children over claims of witchcraft.
The inspector, attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Igbogene police station, reportedly brutalised his children over the weekend, accusing them of involvement in a witchcraft group.
Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, confirmed the arrest on Friday, noting that an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Eyewitnesses reported that concerned neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, alerted Operation Doo Akpor officers, who intervened and rescued the children. The victims were immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Yenagoa, with residents expressing shock that a law enforcement officer could allegedly turn violently against his own children.
