Nigeria former COAS and immediate envoy to the Republic of Benin read and expounded a poem he wrote in his book titled The Legend of Buratai Vol.2 at the annual Gombe Day of Literature/3rd North East Festival of Literature, Culture and Creativity.

The event, which was organised by a non-governmental organisation known as the Halima Factor Community Initiative, was held at the new multi-purpose hall of the Gombe State University today 15th November 2023.

Dignitaries at the event include the deputy governor of Gombe State, Dr Manasseh Jatau, the Chairman, Gombe State Teacher’s Service Commission, Mrs. Nominated Maiguwa,MFR, the Chiroman Nguru, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa, and senior military and para military officers.

General Buratai, who read the poem, was the Special Guest of Honour at the event. The poem was written by General Buratai when he was still in Service in 2019, and it was a by-product of his reflection of the causes and behaviours of terrorists.

General Buratai used the occasion to admonish students to be trustworthy and humble. He said that these two traits can take the youngsters to places. “The virtue of humility is defined and enumerated in all the holy books….Positions of leadership are for Service. Trustworthiness shows that you are reliable, that you are loyal and therefore can be depended upon,” said General Buratai.

He also commended the founder of the Halima Factor Community Initiative, Mrs Halima Usman, and encouraged her to continue with the good work.

The event kickstarted on the 12th November 2023 and will run all through to 16th November 2023. Participants at the event came from all the six states of the North-East region.
