Former Chief of Army Staff and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has urged youths in Borno State to remain loyal to constituted authorities and engage in meaningful ventures to secure a prosperous future.
Speaking at a novelty football match organized by the TY Buratai Football Academy in Maiduguri, Borno State, General Buratai emphasized the importance of loyalty and productivity in achieving success.
The event was part of activities marking the Annual General Meeting of the Association of 29th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy.
General Buratai praised the remarkable achievements of Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, in transforming the state from the era of insurgency.
“Governor Zulum’s dynamic leadership and exceptional administrative skills have brought peace and stability to the state. His support for sporting activities in Borno State is commendable, and we appreciate his efforts in promoting youth development.”
General Buratai praised members of the Course for their sacrifices and commitment to national development. He equally applauded the organisers for a wonderful job and urged them never to relent.
Earlier in his remarks the Chairman of the 29th Regular Course, Commodore ND Teidi Rtd commended the various teams for their good performance and urged them to continue to follow sound examples of leadership.
He noted that the Association was conceived by General Buratai while at the Command and Staff Colleges Jaji and for the love they have for him, the Association chose Maiduguri for this year’s event.
During the tournament, General Buratai presented gift items to the competing teams, emphasizing that there were no winners or losers, only commendable performances. He encouraged the youths to embrace teamwork, discipline, and hard work, saying, “These values are essential for success in all aspects of life.”
He pledged to continue to support sporting clubs and youth development drives with the sole purpose of helping them achieve their dreams in career pursuits.
General Buratai’s message of unity and encouragement resonated with the youths, inspiring them to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. His leadership and vision have continued to inspire a new generation of leaders and change-makers in Borno State and beyond.
