Binani Air Set to Begin Commercial Flights Monday, Becomes Nigeria’s First Woman-Owned Airline
Binani Air is scheduled to commence commercial operations next Monday, with initial routes covering Anambra, Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri, and Port Harcourt.
The airline, which secured its Air Operating Certificate (AOC) in July 2024, is owned by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), widely regarded as the wealthiest woman in Adamawa State and the entire North East. Beyond aviation, she also operates the largest printing press in northern Nigeria.

This development marks a historic milestone, as Binani Air becomes the first Nigerian airline fully owned by a woman—sending a powerful message of inspiration to young girls across the country. Further strengthening this legacy of female leadership, the airline is headed by a female Chief Executive Officer, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, making it the first airline in Nigeria to feature both a female owner and a female CEO.
Ahead of its official launch, one of the airline’s E170 aircraft successfully completed a test flight, signaling full readiness for operations.
