Boko Haram Terrorist Commander and 5 Fighters Surrender to MNJTF in Sector 3, Nigeria

In a significant development in the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity II, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) disclosed the surrender of a key Boko Haram terrorist commander, Adamu Muhammad, along with five fighters to Sector 3 MNJTF in Monguno, Borno State, Nigeria, on 23rd May 2024.
The surrendered individuals, who had fled the ISWAP faction hideout in Jubillaram located in Southern Lake Chad, include Adamu Muhammad, a notorious 22-year-old terrorist commander known for his involvement in multiple attacks across Kangarwa, Alagarno, Doro Naira, and Dogon Chikwu in the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Upon surrendering, they relinquished 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and an anti-aircraft warhead. Among the surrendered fighters are Isah Ali (18), Hassan Modu (18), Nasir Idris (23), who served as an escort for Jubillaram’s Commander Usman Rash, Abba Aji (21), and Abubakar Isah (20). The surrendered individuals are presently under investigation.
With this latest development, the total number of terrorists who have laid down their arms since the launch of Operation Lake Sanity II on 23rd April 2024 has reached 119.
The MNJTF is therefore, urging other militants to follow suit, renounce violence, and embrace peace. The MNJTF in a statement by the Chief of Military Public Information Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi reiterated its commitment to fostering a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region.
