Boosting Battle Readiness: Nigerian Army Hosts Pivotal Logistics Conference in Lagos
The Nigerian Army made significant strides towards operational excellence with the convening of a groundbreaking Logistics Needs Assessment Conference at the Tukuru Yusufu Buratai Hall, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Ojo.
With the theme “Logistics Needs Assessment: A Panacea for Nigerian Army (NA) Operational Effectiveness in a Joint Environment,” the one-day event saw the participation of top military brass, industry experts, and seasoned logistics professionals.
In his opening address, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by Major General Zakari Abubakar, Chief of Transformation and Innovation, emphasised the critical importance of addressing logistics and equipment maintenance challenges.
“This conference aligns perfectly with my command philosophy of transforming the NA into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force capable of achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment,” Lagbaja stated.
The COAS expressed confidence that the conference would be instrumental in identifying and solving logistics challenges, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness.
He highlighted the opportunity for junior and middle cadre leaders to gain insights from seasoned resource persons, stressing the importance of active participation to harness their expertise.
Major General Wisdom Etuk, Commandant of NACOLM, in his welcoming address, lauded the COAS for his support and foresight in initiating the conference.
Etuk underscored NACOLM’s role in training proficient logistics officers and its commitment to fostering innovative solutions for the Nigerian Army’s logistics needs.
The conference featured insightful presentations, including “Evolving Innovative Logistics Support for Enhanced NA Operational Efficiency” by Dr. Alban Igwe and “Innovative Logistics Support and Equipment Optimisation” by Major General Johnson Olawunmi (retired). These sessions, along with interactive discussions, provided a platform for proposing actionable strategies to enhance the NA’s operational readiness.
The event, attended by senior military officers both serving and retired, concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, symbolising a unified commitment to advancing the Nigerian Army’s logistical capabilities.
