Borno: Stakeholders endorse Isa as APC governorship candidate’s running mate Endorsement

Stakeholders from Southern Borno on Sunday endorsed Ali Isa as the running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Mustapha Gubio, in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
They stated that Isa, popularly known as Ali SEMA, deserved to be in the office of deputy governor because of his understanding of the challenges in the Southern zone.

The endorsement was announced in Maiduguri during a joint news conference by the Southern Borno Concerned Citizens Forum and the National Union of Southern Borno Students.
However, Mr Bulama Sawa, National Chairman of the Citizens Forum, said the decision to endorse Isa followed extensive consultations with traditional rulers, women groups, youth organisations, professionals and community leaders across the nine local government areas of Southern Borno.
According to him, the endorsement was not based on sentiment but on the need for competence, experience and empathy in the next administration.
“We are persuaded by Ali Isa’s record of public service, administrative competence, humanitarian leadership and deep understanding of the needs of our people,” Sawa said.
He noted that Isa, who hails from the respected Miringa family of Biu LGA, came from a lineage long associated with public service and scholarship.
His late father, Malam Abdullahi Miringa served as Accountant General and Permanent Secretary in Borno and was widely recognised for integrity.
Sawa added that Isa’s familiarity with communities affected by insurgency and humanitarian challenges positions him to contribute meaningfully from “day one in office.”
He appealed to political leaders, traditional institutions and civil society to give thoughtful consideration to Isa’s candidature, stressing that Borno needed unity and experienced hands as it enters another phase of reconstruction.
“We are confident that Ali Isa possesses the capacity and commitment required to support the next administration in advancing peace and development,” he said.
The groups prayed for continued peace, unity and sustainable development in Borno.
