Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have recorded a significant victory against Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.

On 9 November 2025, personnel of the 135 Special Forces Battalion, operating under Sector 2 OPHK, intercepted terrorists at Dutse Kura after receiving intelligence that insurgents were abducting civilians and seizing vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.

The troops successfully foiled the ambush, pursued the insurgents toward Mangari, and engaged them near a terrorist camp, forcing them to flee in disarray. During the operation, 86 kidnapped civilians—including men, women, and children—were rescued, and 11 makeshift terrorist structures were destroyed. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, five magazines with 73 rounds, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles.

In a related action at Mangada, troops arrested 29 terrorist logistics suppliers en route to Chilaria, seizing two pickup vans, a tricycle carrying about 1,000 litres of petrol, four gallons of engine oil, two new gun truck tyres, medical consumables, and large quantities of foodstuffs and provisions.

The operation was carried out without casualties among Nigerian forces. Commenting on the success, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, praised the professionalism and courage of the troops and urged the continuation of efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North East theatre.

“The gallantry and dedication of our troops are commendable,” Lieutenant Colonel Uba said. “This achievement reflects the unity, discipline, and resolve of our men and women in uniform.”
