BOSIEC to conduct council elections in IDP camps over insecurity

Chairman of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC), Lawan Maina Mahmud has said that elections in four councils are to be conducted in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps over insecurity to lives and property.

According to him, the election affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) include Guzamala, Abadam, Kala/Balge and Marte.

The electoral boss, disclosed this, yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri, while briefing journalists on the preparedness of commission conduct the Saturday elections in the 27 local councils.

He said that all the sensitive election materials have been distributed to the 312 wards in the state.

Besides, he added that the ruling All-Progressive Congress (APC), Nigerian National People’ s Party (NNPP), Labour, Social Democratic Party (SDP), UNCP and eight other political parties are to participate in the elections.

Speaking on the insecure councils, he disclosed that voters from Guzamala and Abadam councils are to cast their votes at the Gajiram and Damasak IDP camps.

While illegible voters from Marte and Kala/Balge local councils are to vote for their leaders at Monguno and Gambouru/Ngala camps respectively.

He said the elections results will be declared by the commission on Sunday afternoon at the Kashim College of Education.
