Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has awarded N90.42 million in scholarships to 221 students studying at the Nigerian Law School campuses in the country.
According to him, the scholarship award will enable students to acquire professional certificates in law to practice.
Presenting the cheques, yesterday (Friday), in Damaturu, the Governor disclosed: “We’ll sustain the awards of scholarships to qualified Yobe indigents studying in tertiary institutions in Nigeria and foreign countries.
He said that his administration has accorded priority to “standard and functional education” from the tertiary institutions, including professional law courses.
Besides, he added that other courses for scholarships included Accountancy and Medical Sciences.
He noted that scholarship awards had existed in the last four years for law students in various Universities.
“This is in line with our holistic approach to the development of education,” he said, noting that education is a driver of human capital development in the state.
He therefore urged the students to pursue their professional courses with a great sense of commitment and responsibility.
According to him, this could justify the State government’s investments in the various students
“You should strive to be good ambassadors of the state, and remain reference points of academic and moral excellence,” charged Buni.
