Buratai Harps on Fostering National Development through Bridge-Building, Social Cohesion

Former Chief of Army Staff, and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has advocated the need to foster national development through bridge-building and social cohesion across the country.

General Buratai made the remarks when he paid a visit to the revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Olalekan Alli.

Buratai, who was in Ibadan to deliver a public lecture at the University of Ibadan Alumni Association, expressed his desire to pay homage to the monarch and his chiefs as part of his commitment to promoting cultural unity in Nigeria.

Upon his arrival at the palace, Buratai who is also the Aare Akinrogun of Ibadanland, was warmly received by the eminent traditional ruler, as well as members of his Advisory Council, including Oba Hamidu Ajibade, the Maye Olubadan, High Chief Lekan Alabi, and the National President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barrister Niyi Ajewole.

In his remarks, Barrister Niyi Ajewole, the President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), commended Ambassador Buratai for his notable achievements, particularly the establishment of the Command Science School in Saki, Oyo State.

The visit to the Olubadan by General Buratai serves as a testament to his commitment to bridge-building and social cohesion as vital components of national development.
