In the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling that upheld the election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lt. General Turkur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), has issued a statement calling on all Nigerians, especially politicians, to unite in support of President Tinubu’s leadership and the realization of his “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The Supreme Court’s verdict favoured the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing the claims put forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party. The court’s decision, according to Buratai, underscores the merit found in the arguments presented by the APC and President Tinubu, signifying significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape and its future policies and governance.
In his statement, Buratai urged Nigerians to gracefully accept the Supreme Court’s judgment and extend their support to President Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of unity in the pursuit of national stability and progress.
He called for the setting aside of personal and political differences in favour of collective efforts aimed at the betterment of the country. Buratai stressed that President Tinubu’s success in leading Nigeria would depend on the cooperation and collaboration of all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations.
President Tinubu, according to Buratai, has been presented with a significant opportunity to guide Nigeria toward a promising future. He encouraged the President to remain resolute and unwavering in his commitment to implementing the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
While acknowledging the challenges that lie ahead, Lt. General Buratai expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s dedication to bringing about positive change in Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of focusing on key issues such as economic development, social welfare, and good governance, noting that President Tinubu has the potential to leave a lasting impact on the lives of Nigerians.
As the nation stands at a crucial juncture with the Supreme Court’s ruling and Lt. General Buratai’s call for unity, the cooperative efforts of individuals from all affiliations are expected to be instrumental in addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
