CAF Awards Nigeria Three Points, Three Goals As Libya Forfeits AFCON Qualifier

By Matthew Eloyi

Nigeria has been awarded three points and three goals by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following Libya’s forfeiture of the AFCON 2025 qualifying match that was set for October 15 in Benghazi.

The decision was confirmed by CAF’s Disciplinary Board on Saturday, in a ruling signed by Chairman Ousmane Kane.

According to CAF, the Libya Football Federation breached Article 31 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations, as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code, leading to the match forfeiture.

The board’s ruling officially declared the Matchday 4 encounter, designated as Match No. 87, as a 3-0 victory by forfeiture in favor of Nigeria.

This outcome strengthens Nigeria’s position in the 2025 AFCON qualification series.
