Canada-Based Nigerian Charged Over Alleged S3xual Assault of Child in Toronto Grocery Store
A Canada-based Nigerian, Idris Olajide Oladejo, has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference following the alleged assault of a child at a grocery store in Toronto.
According to the Toronto Police Service, the 35-year-old Toronto resident was arrested on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, after investigators identified him as the suspect in the incident.
Police said the alleged offence occurred on Sunday, June 21, at about 7 p.m. in the Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East area of Toronto.
Investigators said officers responded to reports that a child had been sexually assaulted while shopping with the child’s parents at a grocery store.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly assaulted the child before fleeing the scene. He was reportedly pursued by a civilian as he attempted to escape.
Following the incident, the Toronto Police Service released a description of the suspect and appealed to members of the public for information to assist the investigation.
The suspect was initially described as a man believed to be about 30 years old with a slim build, last seen wearing a green T-shirt, dark-coloured Adidas shorts and pink Crocs.
In an update, police confirmed that Oladejo had been arrested and charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference.
Authorities said he was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on June 23, 2026, to answer to the charges.
The Toronto Police Service noted that a sexual assault includes any form of non-consensual sexual contact and urged anyone with additional information related to the case to contact investigators.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
