The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has strongly condemned the tragic killing of hunters in transit through Edo State, describing the incident as unfortunate and avoidable.

In a statement released on Saturday by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, the CDS expressed deep regret over the March 28, 2025, incident. He emphasized that such occurrences could be prevented if proper identification procedures were followed by the relevant authorities.

General Musa extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the bereaved families, urging Nigerians to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He stressed the importance of relying on constituted security agencies, including the police and military, to handle security matters professionally.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to ensuring justice, the CDS assured that the military would collaborate with the police and other security agencies to apprehend those responsible.

He further directed all local hunters and vigilante groups to register with authorized agencies such as the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and AFN to ensure proper regulation of firearms.
