CDS General Musa Leads Military Sympathy Visit to Borno Over Devastating Floods
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, visited Maiduguri today to express condolences to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, and the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garba, following the devastating floods that recently struck the region.
Speaking at the Government House in Maiduguri, General Musa sympathized with the government and people of Borno over the severe flooding, describing it as an unpredictable disaster.
He prayed for the state to be spared from such events in the future and assured the governor of continued military support to address any challenges resulting from the disaster.
Governor Zulum expressed deep appreciation for General Musa’s visit, acknowledging the critical role the military played in the rescue efforts.
“Without the military’s support, we would have lost more lives,” Zulum emphasized.
He also highlighted that peace was gradually returning to Borno, with a 90% improvement in the state’s security situation.
During a visit to the Shehu of Borno’s palace, General Musa extended prayers for those who lost their lives and livelihoods, thanking the Shehu for his continuous fatherly support.
The Shehu, in response, praised the military’s swift response to the flood, crediting the theater commander and troops for their relentless efforts.
Earlier, General Musa addressed troops stationed in Borno, commending their bravery during the flooding and reminding them not to lose focus on their primary duties.
Accompanied by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and other top military officials, he conveyed President Tinubu’s gratitude and urged the troops to remain committed to defeating criminal elements in the region.
General Musa further promised to prioritize the welfare of troops and provide necessary equipment to enhance their operations.
