CDS General Musa Seeks CBN Intervention to Boost Military Operations
In a move aimed at enhancing military operations amidst ongoing national challenges, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, embarked on a significant visit to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The purpose of the visit, as outlined in a press statement by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, was to engage with critical stakeholders in addressing contemporary issues facing the nation.
General Musa commended the CBN Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, for his commendable leadership and the implementation of monetary and fiscal policies aimed at alleviating economic hardships across the country.
During the engagement, General Musa highlighted the myriad challenges confronting the military, which have significantly impacted its operations.
He appealed to the CBN Governor to address these challenges, emphasising the need for collaboration to overcome obstacles hindering the effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
General Musa urged the CBN to include members of the Armed Forces in its agricultural schemes, a move that would not only enhance welfare for serving and retired personnel but also contribute to national food security.
In response, Governor Cardoso expressed gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in ensuring peace and stability in the nation.
He affirmed the CBN’s commitment to supporting Defence Headquarters, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the two entities.
Governor Cardoso reiterated the CBN’s re-strategized approach to focusing on monetary policies aimed at stabilising the economic system.
He emphasised the need for assistance from the Armed Forces in the CBN’s daily operations, assuring that efforts were underway to normalise the situation.
The visit underscored the importance of interagency collaboration in addressing national challenges, with both the CDS and CBN Governor expressing optimism for the future and a shared commitment to securing Nigeria’s prosperity and stability.
