CDS Hails Lagos’ Bold Move to Tackle Insecurity Through Agriculture
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has praised the Lagos State Government for its groundbreaking “Produce for Lagos” initiative and the establishment of a ₦500 billion Offtake Guarantee Fund, calling it a timely and strategic intervention linking agriculture to national security.
This commendation was contained in a press statement issued in Abuja by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, on Wednesday.
Speaking during the official launch of the programme, General Musa expressed admiration for the synergy between Lagos State, private sector players, and the Lagos Food Systems Infrastructure Company (LAFSINCO).
He described the partnership as a model response to Nigeria’s urgent need for sustainable food systems and economic resilience.
The CDS noted that the initiative perfectly aligns with the Lagos State Agriculture and Food Systems Roadmap unveiled in 2021.
He applauded the government’s commitment to data-driven planning and its efforts to strengthen every link of the agricultural value chain, stating that food security is a powerful non-military instrument for tackling insecurity, poverty, and joblessness across the country.
General Musa further highlighted how entities like LAFSINCO, Ekolog, and the Lagos Bulk Trading Company are creating scalable models for agricultural production, logistics, and livelihood protection that other states can emulate.

Thanking the Lagos State Government for inviting him to the programme, General Musa reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ support for non-combative, civil-driven solutions to maintain peace and stability nationwide.
