In a momentous occasion at the Presidential Villa, the 2023 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, widely recognised as the ‘Presidential Carol,’ unfolded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosting the event for the first time since assuming the Presidency of Nigeria.
The distinguished Chief of Defence Staff, General Chris Musa, took the stage to read the 2nd lesson from the book of Genesis 3: 1-19. His delivery, characterised by the finesse of an experienced clergyman, added a solemn and reverent tone to the ceremony.
The gathering boasted the presence of notable figures, including former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, and his spouse, Victoria, as well as former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience. Also attending were the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba, Dr. Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja III, legislators, ministers, service chiefs, diplomats, and other invited guests.
In the role of Chief Host, representing the first family, Senator (Pastor) Remi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stood at the forefront of the event.
The distinctive highlight of the evening was General Chris Musa reading the lesson, accompanied by the profound message of the passage, referencing God’s promise to Abraham.
The event resonated with a blend of tradition, spirituality, and the festive season’s spirit, oozing from the melodious renditions of Carol after Carol by the mass choir of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
