CIBN Hosts Generation Next Forum to Inspire Youth Leadership, Innovation
The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has hosted its Generation Next Forum as part of activities marking International Youth Day, bringing together bankers and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for conversations on the role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Held under the theme, “Building Tomorrow Today: Youths as Catalysts of a Digital, Inclusive and Sustainable Economy,” the forum highlighted the growing contribution of young Nigerians to technology, business, innovation and social development.
The discussions emphasised that young people are not merely leaders of the future but are already playing important roles in driving change, creating opportunities and influencing the development of society.
One of the key highlights of the event was an inspiring session with Tunde Onakoya, founder of Chess in Slums Africa, who shared his personal journey and demonstrated how passion, determination and innovation can be transformed into platforms capable of creating meaningful social impact.
The forum also provided an opportunity for participants to engage with established professionals and gain insights into leadership, entrepreneurship, financial services and the evolving digital economy.
For many of the young participants, the gathering served as a reminder that the journey towards leadership does not have to begin someday—it can begin now through learning, innovation, service and purposeful action.
The event further reinforced the importance of creating spaces where young Nigerians can connect with industry leaders, exchange ideas and develop the confidence and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development.
