COAS Approves New Headquarters Building for Nigerian Army Armoured Corps
In line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasizing Sound Administration and Operational Effectiveness, significant steps have been taken to enhance the combat readiness and welfare of Nigerian Army (NA) troops.
To fulfil this objective, the COAS has given the green light to the construction of a new and modern headquarters building for the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps at Obienu Barracks in Bauchi.
A brief ceremony was held on Friday, October 13, 2023, to mark the commencement of construction activities at the project site, which had received the approval of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.
During the ceremony, Major General Mohammed Sani Ahmed, the Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, expressed his gratitude to the COAS for his generosity and innovative approach in securing approval for the project.

He affirmed the corps’s commitment to continuing its vital role as the Combat Arm of Decision Making and believed that the new headquarters building would serve as a morale booster for the corps’s officers and soldiers.
The project engineer from MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD, Architect Abubakar Dauda, assured that the construction would be completed within a six-month timeframe.
He also pledged meticulous execution and the use of high-quality building materials in accordance with global standards. Architect Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Army Headquarters for the prompt release of the required funds.
The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General AGL Haruna, the Chief of Staff at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Lieutenant Colonel LJ Asuquo, Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, and representatives from MS ZAHEERA multi-project LTD.
