Addressing the theme of the week, “Strengthening Combat Arms Cooperation in a Joint Environment: A Prerequisite for Success in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations,” the COAS emphasized that synergy between combat arms is essential for achieving success in Nigeria’s ongoing military operations.
He noted that the current operating environment remains complex and ever-changing, necessitating cohesive and adaptive strategies. He charged participants to move beyond routine doctrinal drills and focus on developing pragmatic solutions to operational challenges in various theatres.
General Oluyede also acknowledged the strategic leadership and support provided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending the Commander-in-Chief for his timely interventions and unwavering backing of the Nigerian Army. He further expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Bauchi State for their sustained support, particularly towards the Armoured Corps.
In a keynote speech delivered on his behalf, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, represented by Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau, applauded the Nigerian Army for its critical role in maintaining peace and security across the state. He noted that the relative peace in Bauchi is a testament to the gallant efforts of the military and other security agencies.
Commander of the Armoured Corps, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, highlighted the significance of CAT Week as a forum to assess current operations, refine strategies, and strengthen inter-arm cooperation for enhanced efficiency.
As part of the activities marking the training week, General Oluyede performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 211 Demonstration Battalion Barracks and also commissioned the Nigerian Army/NORINCO Comprehensive Service Centre — a facility designed to expedite the maintenance and repair of combat platforms.
The CAT Week 2025 is expected to foster stronger collaboration among combat units and contribute to more effective responses to security threats across the nation.
