COAS Commissions Nigerian Army Shopping Complex at Bonny Camp, Lagos, Commends Army Corps of Engineers
Today, Thursday, April 25, 2024, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), officiated the inauguration of the newly constructed Nigerian Army (NA) Shopping Complex at Bonny Military Cantonment, Lagos.
Addressing attendees at the commissioning ceremony, the COAS, also serving as the Special Guest of Honor, applauded the Commander Corps of Engineers, Major General Philip Eromosele, and the Corps’ officers and soldiers for their innovative contributions. He praised their adeptness in aligning with the COAS’s transformation agenda aimed at enhancing the welfare of Nigerian Army personnel through the provision of comfortable accommodations and conducive living and working environments.
General Lagbaja commended the Corps for their outstanding skills and effectiveness in executing a myriad of diverse projects for the Nigerian Army and the nation as a whole. He described their efforts as “noteworthy contributions to national development.”
The COAS highlighted the Corps’ achievements, including the construction of over 40 roads and the recovery of more than 58 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai theatre, along with the safe clearance of the 2002 Bomb explosion scene in Ikeja Cantonment, Lagos.
The COAS emphasiaed the significance of the Shopping Mall’s commissioning in advancing the welfare and well-being of Army personnel and their families. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and continuous guidance, “the NA is committed to realising the President’s vision of securing the lives and property of Nigerians,” he assured.
In his welcome remarks, Major General Philip Eromosele, the Commander Corps of Engineers, thanked the COAS for fostering a professional environment that encourages competence, innovation, and supports personnel welfare and well-being.
