COAS Commissions Remodeled Headquarters in Ogun State
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has commissioned the newly remodeled Headquarters of the 12 Field Engineer Regiment (12 FER) in Ijebu-Ode.
In a statement released by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of “Sound Administration” as a key pillar of his command philosophy.
He stated that the Nigerian Army (NA) leadership has committed to renovating barracks nationwide to provide better working and living conditions for military personnel and their families.
The newly renovated 12 FER headquarters stands as a testament to this ongoing effort.
The COAS praised the Commander Corps of Engineers, Major General Philip Eromosele, for guiding the engineering corps in the right direction and commended Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Enias, the Commanding Officer of 12 FER, for spearheading the project.
In his remarks, Lt. Col. Enias expressed his gratitude to General Lagbaja for his unwavering support and described the event as a milestone for the regiment.
The remodeling of the headquarters, which had previously been lacking adequate office space and facilities, was executed using the regiment’s resources.
The event culminated in the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
During his visit to Ijebu-Ode, General Lagbaja also met with His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
The COAS informed the royal father about ongoing military operations in the area, thanking him for mobilizing support for the troops.
Oba Adetona, in his response, praised the Nigerian Army and encouraged Ijebu youth to consider military service.
He also presented the COAS with a copy of his autobiography, “Awujale: The Autobiography of Alaiyeluwa Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II,” for the Nigerian Army Library.
