Court remands 2 for allegedly stealing phones worth N700,000
An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of two persons, Dayo Oyebamiji and Bukola Adebayo, over allegedly stealing six mobile phones, worth N700,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that Oyebamiji, 29 and Adebayo, 21, committed the offences between 9:30 p.m. on June 9 and 6:00 a.m. on June 10, at Ilesa Motor Park Area, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendants conspired with others, now at large, to commit felonies to wit: breaking, entering and stealing.
He further told the court that the defendants broke and entered the workshop of one Olasode Olawale and carted away six mobile phones.
The prosecutor listed the phones to include: OPPO A15; Gionee 715; Infinix X557; Tecno LA V1; Infinix Hot V111 and Sony Erission, all valued at N700,000, property of Olasode Olawale.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 383, 390(9), 413 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of breaking, entering and stealing.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Innocental Akhigbe, applied for the bail of her client in a most liberal terms, with a promise that they would not jump bail, but produce substantial sureties.
The Magistrate, O. B. Adediwura, denied the defendants bail but asked the defence counsel to come up with a written application for their bail.
Adediwura added that pending the written application, the defendants must be remanded in Ile-Ife Correctional Centre.
