Court remands 2 friends for allegedly stabbing their neighbour
An Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, on Wednesday ordered that two friends be remanded in the Nigeria Correctional Service custody in Suleja for allegedly stabbing their neighbour.
The police charged Samuel David, 20, and Alhassan Samuel, 20, with criminal conspiracy, force, assault, causing hurt and theft.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Sani Umar, ordered that the defendants be kept in custody since the complainant was still undergoing treatment from the multiple injuries he sustained.
Umar remanded the defendants to avoid them engaging in another fight.
He adjourned the case until March 16 for a hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Adewale Adebayo of the same address reported the matter at the police station on Feb. 27.
Tanko said that on Feb. 26 the defendants attacked Adebayo and stole his necklace worth N2,500, a phone charger and stabbed him multiple times in his back with scissors.
Tanko said that during the investigation, one cutlass and the scissors were recovered from the defendants.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 96, 262, 264, 240 and 287 of the Penal Code.
