Dangiwa, Buni break ground for FG’s Renewed Hope Estate in Yobe

The Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa and Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State have performed ground breaking ceremony of the Federal Government’s 250-Housing Units Renewed Hope Estate in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, Dangiwa said the project was part of the Federal Government’s drive to provide affordable houses for the citizenry.

He said the houses comprised of 150 units of 2-bedroom semi detached bungalows, 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows and 50 units of 1-bedroom semi detached bungalows.

The minister highlighted financing options for prospective homeowners under the scheme to include, Rent-to-Own schemes, Outright Purchase and single digit mortgage loans with terms up to 30 years, provided by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

Dangiwa noted that the 250 housing units were part of a total of 50,000 houses to constructed by the Federal Government in the six geopolitical zones in the country and the Federal Capital Territory.

He charged the contractors and developers handling the project in Yobe, to adhere strictly to project specification and agreement.

In his remarks, Buni commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the project aimed at addressing housing deficit in the state and the country at large.

The governor noted that the 250 housing units would support the state’s post insurgency recovery plan and development agenda.

He appealed to the minister to patronise local contractors and building materials’ vendors in the state to give them sense of belonging.

Buni also pleaded for 50 percent discount on the prices of the 208 houses earlier built by the Federal Government in the state, saying the houses would be used to accommodate victims of insurgency.
