Davido Fires Back After Edo Governor Mocks Adeleke at Osun APC Rally
Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to comments made by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, about his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, during an APC governorship campaign rally in Osogbo.
At the rally ahead of the August 8 Osun governorship election, Governor Okpebholo criticised Governor Adeleke’s leadership style, repeatedly referring to his well-known dancing and urging Osun residents to vote for the APC candidate, Senator Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
Addressing supporters, Okpebholo said:
“For four years, this man has been dancing. Is that what you want? Do you want a governor who will continue dancing or one who will work for the people? Osun is ready to move from dancing to working.”
He also urged voters to support the APC candidate, saying the election was an opportunity to choose leadership focused on development and good governance.
Hours after the governor’s remarks, Davido responded on his verified social media page by posting what he claimed was Governor Okpebholo’s WAEC result, a move that quickly sparked widespread reactions and intense debate across social media platforms. Reports indicate the singer’s post was aimed at responding to the governor’s comments about his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The exchange has since generated significant public attention, highlighting the growing intersection of politics and social media as campaigns ahead of the Osun State governorship election intensify.
