DHQ confirms visit of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan to Nigeria in May

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has officially confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Meghan, will be visiting Nigeria in May 2024. The DHQ expressed great honour and delight at the acceptance of the royal couple’s visit to the country.
In a statement released by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, The upcoming visit of Prince Harry and Meghan to Nigeria is expected to further strengthen the bond between the two nations and promote the values of sportsmanship and rehabilitation for service members.
During their visit, Prince Harry and Meghan are scheduled to meet with service members and participate in a variety of cultural activities. Notably, Prince Harry, the founder of the Invictus Games, an international multi-sporting event that provides a recovery pathway for wounded, injured, and sick service men and women, will be focusing on strengthening Nigeria’s participation in the event.
The Invictus Games, with approximately 500 participants from 21 nations in attendance, aims to raise awareness and recognition for soldiers on their path to rehabilitation.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to solidify Nigeria’s presence in the Invictus Games and explore the potential of hosting the event in the country in the coming years. The Honourable Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, who attended last year’s event in Germany, has already expressed Nigeria’s willingness to host the games in the future.
