Ebonyi Governor Approves ₦30,000 Monthly Support for Corps Members
The Ebonyi State Government has approved an additional ₦30,000 allowance for every National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member deployed to the state, as part of measures to improve their welfare during their service year.
Governor Francis Nwifuru announced the initiative during the swearing-in ceremony for the new batch of corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
The Governor said the additional support was aimed at alleviating some of the challenges corps members face while serving across the state, particularly those arising from transportation and navigating different terrains.
He explained that the gesture was part of his administration’s commitment to supporting young Nigerians who contribute to national development through the NYSC scheme.
The announcement was met with applause from the corps members, who expressed appreciation to the Governor for the intervention.
The corps members said the additional ₦30,000 would provide meaningful financial relief, improve their welfare and boost their morale and commitment to their responsibilities throughout the service year.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the Ebonyi State Government and the NYSC while encouraging corps members to contribute positively to communities across the state.
