Edo Police Hunt Man Who Allegedly Doused Girlfriend with Acid
The Edo State Police Command is seeking public assistance to locate Timothy Gilbert, who allegedly poured acid on his 40-year-old girlfriend, Angela Ogah, in Benin City.
CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, told NAN on Wednesday that the attack occurred at Ihovbe Quarters, Ikpoba Hill, after an argument reportedly stemming from suspicions of infidelity. Gilbert allegedly fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Ogah is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and is said to be fighting for her life. Her lawyer, John Izegaegbe, has petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, urging urgent intervention to ensure justice.
The police have appealed to couples to avoid abusive relationships, emphasizing that “love is not by force,” and urged anyone with information on Gilbert’s whereabouts to come forward.
