The suspects include a 51-year-old father of ten, Akilu Salisu from Malumfashi Local Government Area; a self-acclaimed cleric, Umar Mikailu Shuaibu from Kafor Wambari; and Salisu Nura from Garki Local Government Area.

According to the anti-graft agency, the arrests were made following intelligence linking the trio to the circulation of counterfeit foreign currencies, including United States Dollars and Pounds Sterling.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the fake currencies were allegedly intended for delivery to Shuaibu, while Salisu was identified as the final recipient in the distribution chain.

The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify other possible accomplices involved in the syndicate.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to combating financial crimes and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
