Orya, who served as NEXIM Managing Director between 2011 and 2016, was prosecuted by EFCC counsel Samuel Ugwuegbulam before Justice F.E. Messiri of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja.

Delivering judgment, Justice Messiri found Orya guilty on all 49-count charges preferred against him by the EFCC and sentenced him to ten years imprisonment on each count.

The court held that the prosecution successfully established the elements of the offences beyond reasonable doubt, leading to the conviction of the former bank chief.

The EFCC described the judgment as a significant milestone in its sustained efforts to combat financial crimes and enforce accountability within public institutions.

Orya is expected to serve his sentences in line with the provisions of the law.
