Electricity Customers Rise to 12.16 Million as DisCos Generate ₦630.9bn in Q4 2025 – NBS
The number of electricity consumers in Nigeria increased by 130,000 in the fourth quarter of 2025, rising from 12.03 million in the third quarter to 12.16 million, according to the latest Electricity Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The report, published on Tuesday in Abuja, showed that the increase represents a 1.11 per cent growth in electricity customers during the review period.
However, on a year-on-year basis, the number of electricity consumers declined by 8.52 per cent, from 13.30 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
According to the NBS, the number of metered customers rose to 6.97 million in Q4 2025 from 6.66 million in the previous quarter, representing a 4.58 per cent increase. Compared to the same period in 2024, metered customers grew by 12.18 per cent from 6.21 million.
The report also revealed that the number of estimated billing customers dropped to 5.20 million in Q4 2025 from 5.37 million in Q3 2025, reflecting a 3.20 per cent decline. On a year-on-year basis, estimated customers decreased by 26.67 per cent, from 7.09 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The NBS further disclosed that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) generated ₦630.93 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter of 2025, up from ₦570.26 billion recorded in the third quarter, representing an increase of 10.64 per cent.
Year-on-year, revenue collection also increased by 23.75 per cent, compared to the ₦509.84 billion generated in the corresponding period of 2024.
In terms of electricity supply, the report showed that DisCos distributed 6,627.56 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity in Q4 2025, compared to 6,158.52 GWh in the previous quarter, representing a 7.62 per cent increase.
On a year-on-year basis, electricity supply also grew by 6.76 per cent, rising from 6,207.85 GWh recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The NBS said the report provides an overview of electricity billed, revenue generated and customers served by electricity distribution companies across the country during the period under review.
