Enhancing Security Awareness: Nigerian Army Conducts Sensitization for 82 Division Troops
In a proactive move to address emergent security challenges, the Nigerian Army conducted a Security Sensitisation Lecture for Officers and Soldiers stationed at the Headquarters of the 82 Division in Enugu.
Major General Thompson Bobby Ugiagbe, the Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), delivered the lecture on Friday, January 12, 2024, enlightening the troops on current security issues, potential threats, and optimal response strategies.

Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Nigerian Army, underscored the importance of regular brainstorming sessions to share updates on evolving security threats and discuss effective counter-strategies. He highlighted the Nigerian Army’s dedication to personnel training, emphasising that the Division’s notable successes were a result of comprehensive training programs.
“I urge the troops to remain vigilant in identifying security threats within your areas of responsibility,” General Dada said, emphasising the role of proactive measures in preventing security breaches. He commended Major General Ugiagbe for delivering the enlightening lecture to the Division.
During the lecture, Major General Bobby Ugiagbe emphasised the necessity of the sensitisation in light of significant international and national developments in contemporary security threats. Counselling the troops, he said, “prioritising loyalty, discipline, and the security of personnel, material, and information, highlighting their critical role in national security, cannot be underestimated.
Major Ugiagbe, who stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of discipline and professionalism in daily operational tasks, also addressing the sacred obligation of the Nigerian Army to ensure personnel adhere to the law, “there is the need for strict compliance with regulations governing the acceptable use of social media.” He warned against running afoul of the provisions of the Armed Forces Policy on Abuse of social media, urging all personnel to take security awareness seriously.
